Mausoleum At Halicarnassus
The French Whisperer
Sleep and ASMR Storyteller
The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was an outstanding monument, built to house the remains of Mausolus and his sister/wife Artemisia. It was a celebration of Classical Greek sculpture and cultural references, but it was built outside Greece, and Mausolus was a satrap, a viceroy of the Persian empire. Its fame was such that the word "mausoleum" became a generic term for above-ground tombs. Join me and we will explore the history of this wonder of the ancient world, from the historical context to the monument itself.
