In breathwork, we can practice altering the breath to reach a specific state (deepening, extending, breath holds, etc) which are powerful tools. Another type of breath work practice is to allow the breath to return to its natural state by not altering the breath at all. Both are equally valuable and needed at different times. This is a practice of not altering the breath, of understanding when we don't control the breath, it is responsive and adaptive to our internal and external states.
