The Statue of Zeus was a huge "chryselephantine" sculpture, that is to say, a statue fully covered in gold and ivory, with details made of other precious materials (ebony, gems, glass paste...). Its fame passed the frontiers of Greece, and it became the most remarkable monument at Olympia, the sanctuary where the Olympic Games were celebrated every four years. In this story, we explore why and how this work was created, and what happened, and I tell you about different aspects of Ancient Greek culture.
