It's important for us to understand that not every piece of criticism is an attack against your character, in fact, most of the time it's not. If we can look at it from a perspective that the individual is simply identifying a behavior in you that is affecting their feelings then we can realize it's one of two things. Either the other person is misreading the way you are communicating or it means that you have a behavioral pattern that could benefit from altering for the sake of yourself and other people. Behavior is learned, it is not who you are. By separating behavior from our inner being then we can truly self-reflect and elicit growth and real progression in life.
