Never underestimate the power of your breath. The breath is the anchor which we can use to help support us to release stress, tension, and anxiety. Coming back to a slow, deep, regulated breath means we are able to regain control over our nervous system, calm ourselves down & find clarity. In this short exercise, we use a gentle touch, with the hands at the side of the body, holding the ribs. We expand and contract the torso, into and away from the hands, exercising the intercostal muscles & intentionally slowing the breath down. Although this exercise can be used as an energizer - oxygenating the body & focusing the mind - It is a fantastic stress-reduction technique & can be very useful to relax & unwind before bed. Enjoy x
